The University of Virginia, one of the nation’s leading public institutions, seeks a highly collaborative and innovative Director of Procurement and Supplier Diversity Services to oversee a comprehensive strategic sourcing and supplier management program aimed at driving cost savings and strategically leveraging the university-wide spend. The next Director will join the University during a transformative period marked by a new leadership team, unprecedented growth, and strong financial footing.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Financial Operations and Controller, the Director of Procurement and Supplier Diversity Services will provide strategic oversight to the University’s Office of Procurement Services and Supplier Diversity (PSDS), which is supported by 35 staff and $350M in annual expenditures. Supporting the University’s mission by purchasing quality goods and services, promoting supply chain diversification, and exercising proper financial stewardship, the Director will enhance services, develop best practices, and provide excellent customer service. In addition, the Director will be tasked with pursuing cost savings and identify new procurement sources and strategies with an emphasis on developing relationships with small, minority, and women-owned vendors.
The Director will be tasked with streamlining processes, modernizing systems, and ensuring compliance with the support of a high-performing team that strives for operational excellence. The successful candidate will possess broad technical expertise and applicable management experience coupled with a collegial style that engenders trust and fosters collaboration. Relevant procurement experience in a large, diverse, and decentralized organization is required.
