Student Financial Services (SFS) has the privilege of serving UVA students and their families (both current and prospective) by helping them navigate the complex world of financial aid and paying for college. SFS provides ongoing, high-touch outreach in person, online, and via their contact center.
SFS collaborates with other departments on grounds in these outreach efforts. For example, SFS team members partner with the Office of Undergraduate Admission to provide financial counseling to families during the spring’s Days on the Lawn events and travel with the admission team to area high schools in order to meet with students and families. Each winter SFS also works with Admissions to provide financial aid packages to thousands of early action admission applicants and then in the spring for thousands of regular decision applicants.
Financial aid for the University’s graduate and professional school students is coordinated through Student Financial Services, while billing and payment activities for all students (undergraduate, graduate and professional) are provided by SFS.
SFS dedicates team members to UVA’s student-athletes; the Athletic Aid team splits their time between Carruthers Hall and McCue Hall, meeting with student-athletes and coaches, and ensuring compliance with complex NCAA and ACC regulations.
SFS partners with other university departments to provide students with a solid foundation of financial decision making while they are students, and for their lives after graduation, through its financial wellness and education program.
